My Story
Hi, I’m Emma and here’s my story.
Like many people, I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to be when I left University. But I knew it had to be something ‘businessy’.
I was good with numbers so I studied Economics (as part of a Politics, Philosophy and Economics degree) and initially thought I’d be a stockbroker.
Instead, I started a business with a friend and learned a huge amount about behavioural and management training, working with some of the UK’s best known companies and brands. I then moved into luxury retail to lead large sales teams of up to 50 people.
I was trying different roles and different industries, but couldn’t quite find the right fit.
For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out how to strike a balance between my left (logical and analytical) and right (creative and intuitive) brain. This struggle remained throughout the first half of my career.
Then I stumbled into recruitment.
I started in the Financial Services sector in London and then transitioned into the Creative, Digital and Marketing sector when I moved to Melbourne in 2011. Recruitment allowed me to finally bring the two sides of my brain together. It was the missing piece.
What I also discovered was that my core value is being of service to others. In this case, helping job seekers to better market themselves.
This started me on the road to reevaluating what was important to me, what success meant, and how ultimately I could separate out the part of recruitment I enjoyed the most. And in January 2024, I started my business.
Now, as a Career Coach, I use my knowledge and experience to help Marketers and Creatives get the most from their careers. I guide them to take control of their career path and make more purposeful, informed decisions about where they want to go and how to get there.
